How these numbers are produced

Counts are recomputed every 30 minutes from the public USGS catalog and, in Europe, the EMSC catalog. Solutions are preliminary: magnitude, depth and location are revised as more station data arrives. SeismoWatch reports earthquakes after they are published — it is not an earthquake early-warning system.

Event data: U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) and, in Venezuela, FUNVISIS. Populated places and time zones: GeoNames (CC BY 4.0). Preliminary solutions are revised as more observations arrive.

Does this site warn me before shaking starts?

No. These are post-event reports, published after seismologists’ systems detect and locate an earthquake. Earthquake early warning is a different kind of system.
